1 Timothy 4:12

“The Prince Warriors”

Bailey, August 8, 2025August 21, 2025

Description:

“The battle is real.

As brothers, Xavier and Evan are used to battling each other. But now they’re discovering that there is a much bigger battle going on all around them. And it’s their turn to fight. The Prince Warriors is the first book in Priscilla Shirer’s epic new series that brings to life the invisible struggle ensuing in the spiritual realm. Xavier, Evan, and their friends have typical lives until they enter a mysterious land called Ahoratos. There they meet their guide, Ruwach, who offers wisdom and direction as the kids’ initial adventure begins—an adventure filled with armor and danger and a very real enemy.

Written by New York Times Best-Selling author Priscilla Shirer, The Prince Warriors series was created for middle-grade readers and will include the fiction trilogy as well as Unseen: The 365 Prince Warriors Devotional and the Unseen app.”

Personal Thoughts:

There are five main characters in this series and all of them have major character development–which I love. The author uses their decisions to show different life choices, paths and redemption. Some of the characters are extremely loveable, while others take some time to grow on you.

The world is “magical” for lack of a better term. The overall tone of the story is exciting and mysterious. At times the characters make frustrating decisions, which does affect the tone, but everything is wrapped up nicely at the end.

I cannot put into words how beautifully the story is written. There is a good bit of imagery/metaphors, because the main themes are about Spiritual warfare and the Armor of God.

The end of the book makes you want to continue the series, but it is not left on a cliffhanger, which I appreciate. (I HATE cliffhangers.)

This is a four-book series, and I first read it when I was around 12, but the story never gets old. It is nostalgic.

There is no language in the story, or any romance besides some characters liking each other. Very, very light romance.

Christianity- Similarly to Narnia the story is an allegory that does not outright claim to be Christian fiction but if you are a Christian and know the Bible then you can easily pick it out.

It is completely clean, and the author explains the Armor of God is a way that is easily understood, as well as Spiritual Warfare in a way that is real but not terrifying.

The characters are so realistic, and the plot easily sucks you into the story. The book is actually written for boys, but I loved it, and there are girl’s POV’s in the books as well. This was one of the first series I read as a kid, and it holds a special place in my heart.

I would recommend this for 11 year olds and up. (It could easily be enjoyed by any age in my personal opinion.) 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!!

Disclaimer/Spoiler:

the books are connected to each other, and it is important to read them in order. There are two deaths in this series (one in the 3rd? and 4th books. It is not graphic but if a younger audience reads the books, it might bother them, because the last book especially talks about grief and it is the death of a parent/major side character with a mentor role.

The 4th book was the first time I cried over a character’s death before, and I would recommend it for older audiences because of that. It is connected to the rest of the series but the plot is set years after the last book and it does not affect the overall story from book 3. )
