A Prayer for Those in a Difficult Season

I have not written an article in a while due to stress and a busy month. There are many people suffering, struggling and stressing under heavy wieghts in this world and often times keep that to ourselves instead of asking for prayer or help. We ask how someone is doing without waiting for answer and we reapond “good” because that is the simplest thing. The thing we are taught. We dont say that no, we are not okay, “I am tired,” “I barely made it to church this morning,” or “I need help but don’t know how to ask”.

We have been taught and teach not to share or pause, listen and help our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Its easier that way, life is much more comfortable. I feel lead to break out of that habit, but next steps are tricky things.

I am trying to pursue this better and I’ve found that making a list of how we can act helps.

Application:

1. Pause. Look at the person in the eye as you ask them how they are.

Show that you care and want to actually know. Ask questions about their life if you have time to dig past the automatic response.

2. Check up on people.

Ask and remember what they are going through. Even if you have to set reminders on your phone text them.

3. Pray for them.

Hear me out, set a specific day of the week to pray over them.

I hope that this inspires you and helps you support others as we are commanded to do.

Dear Abba God,

Please help those who are suffering. Bless them and keep them and may Your face shine upon them. Give them comfort and peace in You no matter what the circumstances are in their life. Their health, health of family, loss of a loved one or friend, a struggling marriage, huge descions looming over their head–You know them all Lord and I ask that You please teach them to let You carry that weight. You are such a loving, merciful God. Helping and sustaining us in times of trouble and we will praise You despite our circumstances and even when You feel far away. Please let them know that You hear them even when it feels like You aren’t answering. Thank You God for doing these things and finally please give us patience as we wait to see them. In Jesus’ name I pray amen.
